Barcelona Tapas Arts & Culture
Barcelona is Spain's second city and capital of Catalonia in the north. The city is a vibrant metropolis with a great artistic and architectural heritage. Many of the art nouveau buildings with many of them designed by the avant-garde and strange from time to time the architect GaudÃ, whose professor, said in his graduation "I do not know how long are graduating a genius or an idiot!"
It is a city well presented, with wide streets and wide sidewalks. The city transport and tourism infrastructure underwent a massive program of improvement and modernization from 1987 to 1992 preparation for the staging of the Olympics, and today, that legacy still guarantees a good quality, abundant accommodation and good transport links.
The people here seem to have a passion for anything artistic, and as such there are many street artists and performers and, as a profusion most common galleries, concert halls, museums and exhibitions. The nightlife is also good, Barcelona is a party town and the streets are generally safe at night, although all the usual precautions are still advisable.
The food is generally very high, especially tapas, different selections foods like olives, chorizo etc, which is a good choice at a reasonable price in bars. Seafood is especially good, because Barcelona is truly Mediterranean city. When eating in restaurants back anything you did not, the wonderful appetizers future does not constitute a gift from the kitchen and you will end up paying for them!
Barcelona has aa warmer temperate enough to meet most peoples idea of good weather vacations, but the intense heat of the south, you can do half the day useless for anything other than sitting in a hotel room (preferably air conditioned).
Need to see more highlights:
Picasso Museum: The Carra Montcada the museum houses a large collection of works by Picasso in particular its pink and blue periods and Cubist variations later, and also his lithograph prints and ceramic sculpture was a busy man! The museum is housed in two adjoining medieval palaces.
La Rambla: A mile long causeway built over the remains of a dried up riverbed. A bi tourist but usually filled with street performers and artists. A great place for a stroll in the evening or afternoon coffee in one of the many outdoor cafes, crowded parts but keep your hands in your wallet.
Museum of Geology: The oldest museum in Barcelona and since 1882 has been the home of an important and fascinating exhibits of paleontology and geology go on first Sunday of the month when admission is free.
Tibidabo: The summit of the Collserola Tramvia Blau comes at the Atalaya (the old watchtower) for a breathtaking view of the city, also at the top are an amusement park and a museum XIX centuary mechanics.
Cathedral: The work originally began the construction of this beautiful Gothic cathedral in 1298 at the site of a centaur first chapel of the central tower was added as late as 1913.The choir made decorative and should not be missed.
L'Aquarium de Barcelona: Located on the seafront this transparent aquarium is one of the largest (if not most) in Europe. It has a large collection of marine life around the world and especially the Mediterranean. You can walk through a transparent tunnel while sharks move menacingly over his head.
Museo del Templo Segre family: A museum dedicated to the great GaudÃ's unfinished masterpiece. A wonderful opportunity to see a great work of art in construction. Take the elevator to the tower to get a good overview of the scale of the project.
Catalans are generally friendly and helpful to tourists, but do not be surprised if your guide book in Spanish are not as popular as you thought here because, although the locals speak Spanish the real language is Catalan. Barcelona has all the ingredients for a good holiday. food, good, good weather and good people wonderful culture, there will always be a week one weeks well spent.
