Looking for Goth Shoujo manga, or strong female heroine (physically or mentally)?

I like some shoujo such as “Othello”, I mean where she does the secret cosplaying and “Gothic sports”. I prefer it if the lead characture is strong and not really stupid and weak.
Rather not manga such as Vampire knight where its a gothic ’setting’. More looking for the heroine to hav confidence, like red lion.

try this for goth style:

Model

Jae is a Korean student who came to Europe to study art. Things aren’t going her way, but she’s determined to make it. One night, her friend Melissa brings a drunk guy to her apartment and asks if he can stay there for the night. Jae doesn’t like it, but agrees. That night she has a dream that the drunk guy drinks her blood…which, of course, turns out NOT to be a dream.

Jae is surprisingly unafraid of the vampire, Michael, and starts to paint his portrait. The two strike an unusual deal: if Jae allows the vampire to feed on her, he will pose for her. His beauty and alluring preternatural energy could be exactly what Jae needs to finally succeed as a painter. (Source: Tokyopop)

Zion, a girl that is always taken advantage of by her friends because she is so shy and timid, is approached by two people who asks her strange questions about whether she believes in Confucianist moral doctrine and in the end she is bowing and performing sacrificial rites to ancestral gods. From this day on, Zion’s life changes forever. From a shy and unsuspecting high school student, she turns into an exorcist.

Hot Blooded Woman

What is a sweet, soft-spoken girl (Ha Li Kang) to do when her brothers, having just learned fencing and martial arts, decide to test some moves out on her in order to “tame her” and make her into their “little slave?” She runs to her knightly friend (Te Hu Kang, not related to Ha Li) for protection, of course. However, what happens when, instead of comforting her, he tells her that she is a coward for running away like a puppy who needs constant protection? No, she does not break down and cry like a weak girl. Instead, she resolves to grow stronger. With rigorous training everyday, Ha Li goes from being a scared girl who cries for help to becoming the Jjang (boss of a gang) of the Doberman gang. However, events lead to Ha Li getting in an accident with a truck. Afterward, she is reborn into the body of a beautiful, but weak, rich girl Aram Han.

P.S. I love othello!! I just started reading it yesterday! =)

A very different view on marriage and the role of women have female writers. It is noteworthy that there were few writers who had achieved public recognition and popularity in the era and what's more, there views were substantially influenced by stereotypes generated by male-dominated society.

One of the most successful and popular British writer Ann Radcliffe who earned his popularity was largely due to the gothic novel written in a particular style and representing original the female characters from a different perspective to the traditionally male writers did. Naturally, his attitude and the representation of marriage also differ.

In fact, it must be said that Radcliffe's works are characterized by the development of a new female characters who are already aware of its social role, their rights and opportunities and striving for personal happiness regardless of all the obstacles they face. Love is still one of the main themes of his work and marriage is seen by the author as natural consequence of the love of a man and a woman. His characters, often seek love and as it seems, her life changes dramatically for the better. It is therefore possible to estimate that Ann Radcliffe as a writer realizes the importance of marriage as an essential part of any woman's life and as a condition of happiness.

Moreover, his characters Women are not irresponsible, unreliable, deceitful creatures as many male writers is seen in women. In this sense, one can refer to the Eve of Milton, whose disobedience standards led to the death of her husband and of humanity all. Meanwhile, Radcliffe women are not totally dependent on men. In contrast, the heroines Radcliffe on "The Mystery of Udolpho" and "Italian" does not match traditional stereotypes and are very different women characters. For example, unlike from the male perspective on women as wives, Radcliffe points out that the heroin may be less important than men and that may possess the same qualities. For example, in "The Mystery of Udolpho", the heroine dying father warns of the danger of exerting widely sensitivity, quality traditionally attributed to women: "Above all my dear Emily … do not fall into the pride of feeling good, the romantic error of amiable minds … we become victims of our feelings, unless we can in some degree of command "(Radcliffe 241). In fact, this is a view typically male than female characters of the writer and not afraid to challenge to be free and fight for their love and happiness to overcome social prejudices and obstacles mysterious. Moreover, Radcliffe emphasizes the importance of freedom of choice, independent trials, and the personal situation of women, regardless of the influence of men.

Consequently, men and women can be equal in marriage and there should be no subordination, but marriage, according to Radcliffe, but should be viewed as a unity of two people in love. However, regardless of its importance, the marriage is not really the realization of women's freedom and independence. In fact, the author insists rather the need to make a conscious choice in marriage, but Radcliffe social protests against inequality between men and women is less than marriage itself that probably is idealized by the author. In fact, her heroines rebel 'disappeared in marriage and idyllic tranquility at the end to reassure readers and setting to rest the anxieties "(Wolf, 305) raised by his novels.
