Great Things to do in Barcelona Top 10
If ever there was a city that could put a smile on the face of a city-Cleanse, Barcelona has to be. Anyone who has seen the fantastic beach open parks, amazing sculptures at the corners and spectacular architecture of Gaudi would be pushed hard to imagine the city as it was before the Olympic Games 1992 – vacant land with skyscrapers and blocks of abandonment. You do not need to spend your time in museums in Barcelona, because the city itself, beautfully designed, very colorful and eccentric, even, is the main attraction.
And then there's the mall – Barcelona has its share of malls and chains, but also offers a lovely mix of small specialty shops – especially in the Old City. Groovy boutiques – whether fashion or jewelry – are springing no doubt fueled by the steady flow talent of fashion schools in the city. Markets are a must, offering a colorful taste of local life. These are areas we suggest you visit:
1) Las Ramblas, Barri Gotic district
In the heart of Barcelona's Barri Gotic (Gothic Quarter), the largest area of medieval Europe. The area dates dates back to Roman times and the remains of the Roman wall square can be seen. The labyrinthine streets often open to places that are full of restaurants and small bars interesting. The area is home to the most famous street in Barcelona, Las Ramblas.
Spanish poet Federico García Lorca once said that La Rambla was "the only street in the world that I wish would never end. "Everyone should start their break over the tile covered with La Rambla, Barcelona's most famous promenade. This channel old, through the old city that offers a tree-lined promenade consisting of a series of short streets (Canaletes Rambla, Rambla dels Estudis de la, la Rambla de Sant Josep, Caputxins the Rambla dels, and the Rambla de Santa Monica) by what you hear is known as Las Ramblas.
Strolling down Las Ramblas is a great way to get an orientation of the city and on the road emerging in small shops, enjoy the culture of coffee, enjoy the street performers and stalls selling various small animals and flowers.
2) HOLY FAMILY
This monumental church of the expiatory temple of the Sagrada Familia (Temple of the Sagrada Familia Expiatorio) is the most copy of Gaudí and the most famous. It's like a symbol of Barcelona as the Eiffel Tower is Paris. Gaudí began work on it in 1883 after switching to another architect and dedicated his life to it to the point of reality to be installed on site. He was obsessed with this planning project dedicated three exquisitely decorated facades the Nativitiy, Passion and Glory. Each was to be crowned by four towers. When asked why he fussed so much tapas tower Gaudí replied: "I see angels." Sadley he never lived to complete. On June 7, 1926 Gaudí was crossing the Via Fran and was hit by a car. He died three days later at the age of 74. The church is still being built and the finish is open to visitors. Visitors can climb the towers and offer breathtaking panoramic views over Barcelona.
